GDCO hosted the 5th east African Telecentre leaders forum (5th EATLF 8th – 11th June 2008),, GDCO paid all the local costs (hotels,,, food,,, local transport,, laundry,,, mobile Sim cards,,, the main issue was the Telecentre Academy. 27 participants from 17 countries attended the forum. On the 11th June Sudan national Telecentre academy (SuNTA) was declared as the first national Telecentre academy in Africa and the middle east and it is the 13th in the world. In august 2008 and at the Telecentre forum in e-India 2008 the vice chancellor of Indaira Gandhi national Open University (IGNOU), telecentre.org, Gedaref state minister of education, CSDMS and GDCO chairman launched the website of SuNTA. GDCO attend the meeting in Barcelona Spain. On October 27th Gedaref state minister of education in the presence of Gedaref governor declared the opening of SuNTA.
1/ the Utilization of Communications & Information Technology for Development in Sudan. 2/ bridging the digital divide (gab) created by the information revolution. 3/ inclusion of the disabled within the society through information telecommunication technology. 4/ Initiation of data base systems for perfect planning to achieve a comprehensive development in Sudan. 5/ Seeking financial & technical support from Funding Institutions, including Civil Society Organizations (National and International), Governments and private Sectors. 6/ Exchange of experiences & knowledge with the global Telecentre network and the Information Societies. 7/ Setting local programs contents as required for capacity building and implementation of specialized advanced training programs in the fields of information technology & cognitive skills for practitioners in Telecentres. 8/ Co-ordination between the working organizations and institutions in the field of Information Technology to achieve the shared goals and participate in establishing and operating Telecentres. 9/ Utilization of available infrastructure of partners to execute and operate telecentres by securing funds according to regulations and priorities. 10/ Securing logistics and basic subsidiaries which contribute in successful works and stability of telecentres. 11/ providing the Government with technical support and consultancies to execute it's technical programs. 12/ Installation of Telecentres National Network, to include all institutions,( public & private) and concerned organizations that work in the fields of digital technology and knowledge. Beside having partnerships to support, exchange experiences and information. Also to conduct workshops, seminars for identification Telecentres visions and goals. 13/ Formation of a permenant, joint co-ordinating committee to approve the programs and set priorities, fellow-up, and raise periodical progress reports according to regulations that compatible with partners goals and wishes. 14/ Formation of the Board of Directors to achieve the establishment of the Academy according to the proposed program, and to form councils for initiating state academies. Gedaref digital city organization (GDCO) is NGO (Gedaref Sudan). GDCO is the founder of the first national Telecentre academy in Africa and the 13th in the world (Sudan national Telecentre academy SuNTA).... digital city of eindhoven DSE donated 750 computers to GDCO and more than ten community development projects were established . GDCO is the winner of i4d award e-India 2007 ,,, also the winner of i4d 2008 awards for the best innovations at the grassroots Telecentre ,The winner of i4d 2009 awards for civil societies initiatives for development,,,, GDCO has 4 internet websites in Arabic,,, Dutch, English and the fourth is in UN-ESCWA,,, also it Has more than150 links and blogs and 500 pictures
The concept of NGOs as a receptive organization for donation is completely changed and they become partners in development and the big PPP (public, private partnership) become true,,, The main feature of these partnerships is sharing knowledge, experiences and best practices, which help in saving money and time,,, The digital city of Eindhoven donated 750 computers to GDCO in last year’s and more than ten projects in cooperation with the Government Gedaref and civil society organizations working in the field of technology were established
