Gedaref digital city organization (GDCO) is NGOs (Gedaref Sudan). GDCO is the founder of the first national Telecentre academy in Africa and the 13th in the world (Sudan national Telecentre academy SuNTA). Digital city of Eindhoven (DSE) donated 750 computers to GDCO and more than ten community development projects were established using ICT. GDCO is the winner of information for development award i4d e-India 2007 ,,, also the winner of i4d 2008 awards for the best innovations at the grassroots Telecentre ,,,, The winner of i4d 2009 awards  for  civil societies initiatives for development,,,, GDCO has 4 internet websites in Arabic,,, Dutch, English and the fourth is in UN-ESCWA,,, also it Has more than150 links and blogs and 500 pictures

In a very complicated election in the history, the Sudanese elections started where 16,500 million voters in Sudan go today to the polls to vote in 10.751 polling stations of which 7621 polling stations in the north and 3130 polling stations in the south for more than 76 parties. On the 3rd of March 2010 at the New World Hotel Ballroom in Makati City  Manila The telecentre.org Foundation (The international initiative) announced officially transferred from Canada (where it is hosted by International Development Research Centre (IDRC) since 2005) and launched in the Philippines by the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT). The turnover and launch was attended by around 150 participants, 21 of whom were foreign delegates.

   It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that Mr. Ben Waumans the great man of Eindhoven and the founder of GDCO was passed away last Wednesday 11th November (67 years)… I call him last week inquiring about his health but the phone was answered by his son … on behave of GDCO and its partners specially Gedaref university,,, and on behave of Gedaref state community and on behave of all the disabled I would like to show our deep condolences to his family and to his colleagues in the Digital City of Eindhoven also to the great people of Eindhoven .. Specially Dr. Agnes and Gedaref volunteers in Eindhoven … my condolences to Gedaref state community who benefit from the partnership between GDCO and DSE ,,, also to the disabled all over Sudan who learn how to communicate with their families through the internet our condolences to the Telecentre movement for missing a great hero who help Sudan to join this movement

    The concept of NGOs as a receptive organization for donation is completely changed and they become partners in development and the big PPP (public, private partnership) become true,,, The main feature of these partnerships is sharing knowledge, experiences and best practices, which help in saving money and time,,, The digital city of Eindhoven donated 750 computers to GDCO in last year’s and more than ten projects in cooperation with the Government Gedaref and civil society organizations working in the field of technology were established

 GDCO hosted the 5th  east African Telecentre leaders forum (5th EATLF 8th  – 11th June 2008),, GDCO paid all the local costs (hotels,,, food,,, local transport,, laundry,,, mobile Sim cards,,, the main issue was the Telecentre Academy. 27 participants from 17 countries attended the forum.  On the 11th June Sudan national Telecentre academy (SuNTA) was declared as the first national Telecentre academy in Africa and the middle east and it is the 13th in the world.  In august 2008 and at the Telecentre forum in e-India 2008 the vice chancellor of Indaira Gandhi national Open University (IGNOU), telecentre.org, Gedaref state minister of education, CSDMS and GDCO chairman launched the website of SuNTA. GDCO attend the meeting in Barcelona Spain. On October 27th Gedaref state minister of education in the presence of Gedaref governor declared the opening of SuNTA.
