Sudan national Telecentre academy (SuNTA)

GDCO hosted the 5^th east African Telecentre leaders forum (5th EATLF 8^th – 11^th June 2008),, GDCO paid all the local costs (hotels,,, food,,, local transport,, laundry,,, mobile Sim cards,,, the main issue was the Telecentre Academy. 27 participants from 17 countries attended the forum. On the 11th June Sudan national Telecentre academy (SuNTA) was declared as the first national Telecentre academy in Africa and the middle east and it is the 13th in the world. In august 2008 and at the Telecentre forum in e-India 2008 the vice chancellor of Indaira Gandhi national Open University (IGNOU), telecentre.org, Gedaref state minister of education, CSDMS and GDCO chairman launched the website of SuNTA. GDCO attend the meeting in Barcelona Spain. On October 27th Gedaref state minister of education in the presence of Gedaref governor declared the opening of SuNTA.

What is the EATLF

The East African Telecentre leaders Forum (EATLF) is a biannual gathering of telecentre practitioners in the East African sub region. The EATLF is an initiative of UgaBYTES with support from telecentre.org a joint social investment of IDRC, Microsoft, and SDC.The event is part of the global framework of telecentre.org and focuses on different themes. The gathering is focused at facilitating learning and sharing of ideas and solutions among telecentre practitioners.

Sudan National Telecentre Academy (SuNTA), has made an implementation of the briliant idea that is engraved in minds by Mr. Ahmed Eisa, the Chairman of GDCO, that is the intrinsic belief of the genuine representation of the Traditional Sudanese Coffee Time (Coffee Break) for a simple type of telecentre. Those coffee breaks were used to gather people in many levels of group authorities to handle certain issues in the sudanese grassroot communities while simply drink djabana, i.e. coffee

Gedaref digital city organization (GDCO) is NGO (Gedaref Sudan). GDCO is the founder of the first national Telecentre academy in Africa and the 13th in the world (Sudan national Telecentre academy SuNTA).... digital city of eindhoven DSE donated 750 computers to GDCO and more than ten community development projects were established .
